Monterey Regional Waste Management District Exhibit

Picture
This year the Monterey County Fair is focused on the "3 R's".  They are reduction, reuse, recycling and composting!  The MRWMD under the leadership of Kimberle Herring and her volunteers in the Public Education and Recycling group put together the 2009 exhibit.

The exhibit won first place!

The Manley Group Rainwater Barrel

Picture
Included in this year's winning exhibit are recycled items many of which were found at "The Last Chance Mercantile".  You can purchase compost and vermi-compost bins and multiple colors of wood chips.  But if you have a creative side it is fun to use your imagination and reuse old wash basins as planters, or a recycled food grade 55 gallon drum as a rainwater harvesting barrel.   Depending on the day you might find other items like a used mail box, watering can, pipe, stepping stones and much more!  Thanks to the MRWMD volunteers working with Kimberle for putting together this fine exhibit!!!
