3000 Gallon Rainwater Harvesting System above Carmel Valley Village.

Picture
This RWH System was designed by Roger Manley of Central Coast Rainwater Harvesting and installed behind a garage.  Extensive landscape adjustments were made by Garden Solutions Landscape 831-224-4006 to site the two 1500 gallon tanks there.  The site was compacted and decomposed granite was installed as the base.  A cement block retaining wall was installed to provide the room necessary .  The garage roof measures about 792 square feet of catchment area.  Existing gutters on the front and back of the garage were connected to Leaf Eaters and First Flush devices.  Two inch PVC was used to convey the water to the tanks and two inch flex PVC was used the final few feet to allow for movement.  This system utilizes a dry conveyance to avoid "freeze" issues in the future.  The two tanks are connected with a two inch flexible PVC hose with Banjo quick connect/disconnect hose barbs and fittings.  A Grundfos MQ3-45 compression pump is being used to move the water from the tank to raised bed vegetable gardens.  A two inch skimming overflow runs from each tank out along the wall and down under the deck.
